Griekse voetbal krijgt rode kaart van de FIFA
ma 03/07/06 - Griekse ploegen worden voor onbepaalde tijd gebannen uit het internationale voetbal. Dat besliste de FIFA omdat de Griekse bond de scheiding tussen de politiek en de sport niet respecteert. "De situatie bij de Griekse voetbalbond is in strijd met de reglementen van de FIFA", klinkt het in een mededeling.
De wereldvoetbalbond had Griekenland zes maanden geleden al gewaarschuwd en een deadline vastgelegd. Tegen 15 juli moesten de Griekse politici een nieuwe wet stemmen. Omdat de deadline niet meer kan worden gehaald, wordt de Griekse voetbalbond nu al geschorst. Alle aangesloten clubs en spelers mogen niet deelnemen aan internationale competities.

kwou het ook juist posten 
is idd een erg zware straf, omdat griekenland niet bepaald een dwerg is in het europees voetbal. maar juist is juist natuurlijk. weet er iemand of dit positieve gevolgen kan hebben voor belgische ploegen die komende seizoenen europees gaan spelen?? wordt niks over gezegd ...

op 6 maanden kunnen ze toch veel doen, hier in België werd de wapenwet zelfs op enkele dagen gestemd. Als da hier kan, kan het overal.
verdiende straf, ze moesten maar nie zo laks zijn in het zuiden

En wat heeft de politiek daar juist gedaan eigelijk ? Want ben niet echt thuis in deze zaak. Vraag mij dan toch af of zo iets in Italie ook niet mogelijk is aangezien onze goede vriend Berlusconi daar toch wel wat te zeggen heeft. Of is deze zaak daar niet echt mee te vergelijken ????

Greece suspended by FIFA

The FIFA Emergency Committee has decided to suspend the Hellenic Football Federation (HFF).
FIFA statement
The world football governing body issued the following statement on Monday: "The FIFA Emergency Committee, composed of five presidents and one representative of each of the six confederations, today decided to suspend the Hellenic Football Federation, having determined that the situation of the HFF is not in line with the principles of the FIFA Statutes regarding the independence of member associations and the independence of the decision-making process of the football-governing body in each country.
Deadline
"In September 2005, the FIFA Executive Committee gave the HFF a deadline of 15 July 2006 to obtain from the Greek government an amendment to the national law on sports in order to enable the association to be in conformity with the FIFA Statutes and the relevant UEFA regulations.
Suspension necessary
"In spite of repeated warnings from both FIFA and UEFA, the commitment expressed by Greek government representatives to amend the law on sport to irrevocably recognise that football matters can only be decided by the HFF and its subordinated football structures has not been respected. In fact, the recently-presented draft of a new law on professional leagues constitutes another example of interference from the government in football affairs. Therefore, the FIFA Emergency Committee has determined that the deadline would not be met by the HFF and that the suspension of this federation was necessary.
Immediate effect
"This decision means that the HFF and all of its members (clubs, players, officials) are suspended with immediate effect and until further notice from all international contact, which also includes participation in international competitions at all levels, the organisation of international matches in Greece and the appointment of officials for international duties."

Als ik het allemaal goed begrijp komt het erop neer dat de FIFA vindt dat ze boven de wet moeten staan en de Grieken vinden van niet.

Club Brugge profiteert mogelijk van Griekse uitsluiting
De Fifa besliste deze week dat de Griekse voetbalbond voorlopig geschorst wordt (=> ). Dat betekent dat de Griekse clubs voorlopig niet mogen meedoen aan de Europese competities. Het is goed mogelijk dat Club Brugge daar van zal profiteren.
Als de schorsing behouden blijft tot augustus, betekent dit dat de Griekse teams niet mogen starten in de Uefa-beker en de Champions League. Daardoor kunnen andere teams een plekje opschuiven. Aangezien Griekenland vier rechtstreekse tickets voor de eerste ronde van de Uefa-beker heeft, komen er in dat geval dus vier tickets vrij. Die tickets gaan naar de eerste vier landen die géén rechtstreeks ticket hebben. België behoort daar ook bij. In ons land heeft Zulte Waregem wel een rechtstreeks ticket, maar Club Brugge niet. Club moet immers eerst nog de tweede voorronde spelen. Als de Griekse schorsing behouden blijft, mag Club wellicht meteen in de eerste ronde starten.
De vraag blijft natuurlijk of die schorsing effectief blijft gelden. De Griekse bond heeft al laten verstaan er alles aan te zullen doen om de zaak zo snel mogelijk op te lossen.

FIFA lifts Greek suspension

World football's governing body FIFA has lifted its suspension of the Hellenic Football Federation (HFF).
Amendment approved
The FIFA Emergency Committee made its ruling on Wednesday after receiving confirmation that the Greek parliament had approved an amendment to national legislation relating to sport, in order to bring it into line with the requirements of the FIFA statutes and the relevant UEFA regulations.
Associations' independence
The Emergency Committee had suspended the HFF on 3 July after adjudging that the situation of the Greek federation did not comply with the principles of the FIFA statutes regarding the independence of football associations and their decision-making procedures. Discussions were subsequently held between FIFA and the HFF, as well as between the latter and Greek government authorities.
National legislation
Consequently, Greece's parliament voted in the night of Tuesday into Wednesday to introduce the following amendment to national legislation regarding sport: "Specifically for the sport of football, the Hellenic Football Federation and its members are self-governed by the HFF and its bodies, according to its statutes and regulations, as well as those that are determined by the Union des Associations Européennes de Football (UEFA) and the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), even if different regulations are provided in the law 2725/1999, as it is in effect in the athletic legislation. Subjects of audit for the subsidies that the HFF receives from the state, control of legality, public order and safety are subject to the exclusive competence of the state."
Respecting FIFA and UEFA statutes
"In view of this amendment," a FIFA statement said, "the FIFA Emergency Committee ruled that the HFF is now in a position to respect the statutes and regulations of FIFA, as well as those of UEFA. As a result, the suspension previously imposed on the Hellenic Football Federation has been lifted."
